Strain Review: Sour OG

Smell Test: As a mix of two very different strains, Sour Diesel and OG, the best examples of this strain will have the Sour Diesel smell, with complex after notes. Sour Diesel can easily overpower the OG in this hybrid, so the best way to judge this strain is by smell. Our example here from Kaya Compassion Center has a distinct lemon aroma, with a bit of chemical smell from the Sour D. In addition, you do get the OG hints of vanilla that shows you that this batch has been expertly harvested and cured.

Sight Test: You normally do not expect large, dense nugs with anything crossed with Sour Diesel, but this Sour OG could easily be mistaken for a Kush by sight alone. The Sour OG has dense, pinecone shaped nugs that are so frosty you lose the green for the white.

Pinch Test: With such dense nugs, is it surprising the Sour OG is so very resinous and fragrant. Breaking apart the nugs really does bring out the intense smell, and inside the buds are just as frosty as they are on the outside. It was hard to keep my fingers from getting sticky when handling the flowers, which is always a wonderful thing.

Taste Test: As the name suggests, Sour OG has a distinct sour taste. The main tastes are citrus and diesel, but you do get the earthy taste of OG as well. It intensely reminded me of lemon tea, which made it a great strain to smoke with my morning tea.

Brain Test: This is one of the few strains where you get the relaxation and pain relief of an indica, but without the drowsiness. There is a nice body buzz as well without feeling too hyperactive, so you can use this as either a daytime medication or at night for pain relief. The high lasts most intensely for 2 hours, but a nice buzz will last past three.

Tools: I used both a Volcano Vaporizer, and a clean glass bubbler and found they were both effective for this medication.
